We turned this once very closed-off and awkwardly laid-out kitchen into a space that’s far more functionally sound—improving the kitchen layout, adding extra kitchen storage, and incorporating a peninsula with additional seating, all while only opening up one wall. It’s not a true open-concept kitchen, but it’s exactly how this kitchen should have always been.
As part of this kitchen remodel, we also added skylights in the dining room to bring in more natural light, painted the entire first floor of the home, refinished the existing hardwood floors, and rebuilt the primary shower after uncovering a water issue during the project. Addressing these kinds of details—planned and unplanned—is an important part of how we approach whole-home renovations.
