This Fairfield, CT home remodel started with a layout that had things in all the wrong places. The kitchen sat in the lower level of the house, and the primary bathroom was sitting where the kitchen should have been. The cabinets were newer, though, so tearing everything out was never the right answer.
We redesigned the layout around what was already worth keeping. The existing kitchen cabinetry came with us into the new space, and we added Fabuwood Galaxy Nickel cabinetry where the new footprint needed more storage. Opening up the wall gave the kitchen the open-concept feel the house was missing.
From there we installed new wood floors and refinished them to match the existing, added Quartzite counters from JF Granite, and set the homeowner-provided backsplash tile along with new tile on the mudroom floor to transition into the wood. We also created a brand-new primary suite as part of the same renovation.
