This Newtown, CT patio was designed as a true lakehouse retreat — laid-back, functional, and built for entertaining.
The project included a screened-in porch off the house, along with a custom patio featuring a fireplace and a full outdoor kitchen. A screened porch is an underrated addition in Connecticut: it stretches the usable season on both ends and it is the one outdoor space that still works in August when the bugs arrive.
Pairing the porch with an open patio gives the family two different outdoor rooms rather than one compromise space.
