Primary & Guest Suite Addition | Redding, CT

This addition sits on a working farm, and that shaped every decision on the project. The house had real character, and the goal was never to make the addition announce itself. It was to build a primary suite and a guest suite that read like they had always been part of the house.

This was our second project with these homeowners. We did their kitchen first, which is how we learned how they work. They had renovated several properties before moving to Redding, and the husband comes from an engineering background, so they walked in already knowing the ins and outs of a build. They asked precise questions. They understood why a detail cost what it cost, and they had opinions worth listening to.

We say this respectfully: there are projects where the client knows more than we do about certain things. This was one of them, and it made the work better. Decisions got made faster. Nothing had to be explained twice.

The two suites gave them a primary space that fits how they actually live on the property, and a guest suite that does not borrow from it. Both stay in step with the original house rather than competing with it.

Coming back for a second project is the part we are proudest of. The first one earned it.
