I'll be honest, this is one of my favorite times to be a designer. The direction bathroom design has taken in 2026 is exactly the kind of work I love helping clients bring to life — and I'm seeing these trends come through our Design Center in New Milford, CT every week.
We're moving away from cold, stark spaces and toward bathrooms that feel warm, layered, and genuinely personal. Less utility room, more private retreat.

Why Is Large Format Tile the Go-To Choice for Bathroom Renovations in 2026?
This is one of the first things I talk about with clients who want their bathroom to feel more elevated: swapping out smaller tile for large-format slabs — 24×48 inches or larger. It changes the entire feel of a space almost immediately.
Fewer grout lines mean the eye can travel across the room uninterrupted, which makes even a modest-sized bathroom feel more open and refined. And from a practical standpoint? Less grout means less to scrub. That's a win I genuinely appreciate.
I'm loving natural stone and stone-look porcelain in these larger formats right now. Taj Mahal quartzite with its beautiful warm tones, or something with a little more drama and movement. The idea is to let the material do the talking rather than filling the space with visual noise.
